But I've also seen plenty of don't message me if--followed by a list of things ranging from height, musical tastes, and political party affiliations. I would say I almost immediately stop reading a woman's profile if I even get a small whiff of bitterness or negativity. Now if they say don't message me if you're just looking to hook up then it could be just a general and harmless statement and I may overlook it and email anyway.

I think, for the most part, people look better in real life because they are 3-dimensional, so things that are "flattened out" in photos look fuller, less fake. Lighting also has a drastic effect on how someone looks, and lighting in photos is usually artificial...
